This weekend, Wheeling is kicking off the first official week of fall the best way that we know how to — with beer. The city’s annual Oktoberfest, hosted by Wheeling Park District, has something for everyone in the family to enjoy. And the best part is: it’s free!
Oktoberfest takes place at the Performance Pavilion in Heritage Park. The event falls on Saturday, September 28, and runs from 3-8 PM. ONE is proud to be one of the event sponsors, helping to bring the perfect fall celebration to our residents, right outside their door.
One could argue that the event’s main attraction is, of course, beer. There will be both German and domestic beer for sale, accompanied by a tantalizing menu including bratwurst, pretzel sticks, potato pancakes and even more German delicacies.
Alongside the drinks and food is an exciting lineup of entertainment. Two musical acts are performing: Danny Mateja & the IPA Tribute Band will take the stage from 3-5 PM, followed later by 7th Heaven from 6-8 PM. Between musical acts, the festival will cause a ruckus with a Stein Holding Contest, Sauerkraut Eating Contest and German Spelling Bee.
